Representatives of the Swedish Left Party and the Environmental Protection Party (Greens) criticized the agreement between Stockholm and Ankara on the application to NATO.
“We take very seriously how the government has already bowed to Turkey and Erdogan in recent weeks and months,” Left Defense Party spokeswoman Hanna Gunnarsson told Sveriges Radio during a political debate.

Turkey, Sweden and Finland signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding on the two countries’ NATO membership on July 28, after the two countries pledged to allay Turkey’s security concerns and pledged to cooperate with it in the fight against “terrorism”.
Moscow has repeatedly indicated that the alliance is aimed at confrontation, and Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that further expansion of the Atlantic bloc will not bring greater security to Europe.
