Sweden sends instructors to UK to train Ukrainian army

The Swedish government has announced that its armed forces will send up to 120 instructors to the UK to train Ukrainian troops there.

“From August 12 to December 31, 2022, the Swedish Armed Forces will send up to 120 instructors to the UK to conduct basic military training for Ukrainians,” the Swedish government said on its website.

According to the Swedish Cabinet of Ministers, this will not have a significant impact on other activities of the Swedish armed forces.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson proposed launching a large-scale operation to train Ukrainian forces on British soil with the possibility of training up to 10,000 soldiers every four months.

It is noteworthy that the initiative to train the Ukrainian army comes from the UK, which invited other members of the Joint Expeditionary Force and Canada to “help”.
