Sunak urges London to designate Iran’s Revolutionary Guards as terrorist organization after attack on Salman Rushdie

British Prime Ministerial candidate Rishi Sunak has called for the Iranian Revolutionary Guards to be designated a terrorist organization following the recent attack on British-Indian writer Salman Rushdie in New York.

Sunak said in a statement to the Telegraph newspaper: London should recognize the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization.

He added: “We urgently need a new and expanded (nuclear) deal and tougher sanctions, and if we can’t get results, we should start to doubt that the JCPOA is deadlocked.”

He continued: “The brutal knife attack on Salman Rushdie should serve as a wake-up call to the West, and Iran’s response to the attack reinforces the need for an embargo on the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.”
