Sunak: UK may consider withdrawing from European Court of Human Rights

British Prime Ministerial candidate Rishi Sunak has announced that the UK may consider withdrawing from the European Court of Human Rights amid its decision on a migrant deportation deal with Rwanda.

“We may have to, and we cannot rule out any options,” Sunak said during his campaign events on Friday.

Sunak stressed that he will do everything in his power to implement the agreement reached by the UK with Rwanda regarding the deportation of illegal immigrants arriving in the UK through the English Channel.

An agreement reached last April calls for British authorities to deport these migrants to Rwanda to provide them with asylum, but the plan has drawn criticism from human rights groups.

The decision of the European Court of Human Rights blocked the first flight that was supposed to deport migrants in June last year.
