Sunak: Britain will help Ukraine strengthen its position before possible negotiations with Russia

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the UK is making efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s position ahead of possible talks with Russia.

“Our job is to continue to help Ukraine defend itself and strengthen its position the moment they decide to come to a negotiated solution,” Sunak said on the eve of the G20 summit in Indonesia on Monday.

Sunak felt that calling on Ukraine to negotiate with Russia would be “dishonest” against the backdrop of attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.

And the Politico newspaper previously reported that the administration of US President Joe Biden is calling on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to abandon his refusal to negotiate with Russia.

It should be noted that Russia has stated that it is open to negotiations with Ukraine, but does not see a real possibility of negotiations, given the current position of Kyiv.
