Stoltenberg: NATO focuses not on Ukraine’s entry into the alliance, but on its military support

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said the alliance aims to help Ukraine militarily, not to join it.

“Efforts are now focused on helping Ukraine maintain its independence. Now this is the main thing, not NATO membership, ”Stoltenberg said during a joint meeting of the European Parliament committees on defense and foreign affairs.

Earlier, Russia sent a note to NATO countries regarding the supply of weapons to Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov indicated that any supply of arms to Ukraine would be a legitimate target for Russia.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that NATO countries are “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine.
