Haluk Bayraktar, general manager of the Turkish company Baikar Makina, which produces unmanned aerial vehicles, announced on Friday the start of construction of the company’s plant in Ukraine for the production of Bayraktar drones.
“We want to produce all systems, not only the fuselage, but also electronics, software, and our investment plans are now moving forward,” Bayraktar was quoted by the Ukrainian Onyan news agency as saying.
According to him, “In addition to the production workshops, the territory of the plant where their construction began will be a research center and an advanced production center.”
Drones “Barktar TV-2” and “Bayraktar Akyndzhi” will also be produced at the Ukrainian plant.
Yesterday, Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Vasily Bondar said that the owner of the company had acquired a land plot in Ukraine necessary for the project.
On August 9, he said that the construction of the plant would take several months, and that it would not start until the end of 2023.
