Star of France crowned with the 1998 World Cup: I hope Messi wins the World Cup in Qatar!

Former French star David Trezeguet has given his take on today’s matchup, which sees his country and his Argentine counterpart face off in the Qatar 2022 World Cup final.

Trezeguet, who holds French and Argentine citizenship but chose to represent the Roosters team, said in statements released by the international Goal website that his heart is broken over the World Cup final in Qatar, but he wants Argentine star Lionel Messi will raise the cup.

The former star, who won the World Cup with France in 1998, confirmed that it was hard for him on a personal and emotional level, but in the end “it’s going to be a great finale and party.”

He explained, “I have mixed feelings, but I’m more inclined to win the tournament for Argentina.”

Trezeguet continued his remarks by saying “I repeat this emotionally and I know that this will be the last World Cup for Messi and he deserves to be champion.”

He stressed: “It makes people dream, but it doesn’t detract from France’s ambition to win the title.”

Today, France and Argentina are looking forward to winning the World Cup for the third time in their history.
