Speaker of the Federation Council praised the relations between Russia and Uzbekistan

Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko at a meeting with the speaker of the House of Representatives of Uzbekistan Nuruddinjon Ismailov expressed satisfaction of the Russian side with the progress in developing relations with Uzbekistan.

“We welcome the level of development of relations between our two countries, as they have many forms and ways,” Matviyenko said, expressing her hope that these relations will continue to grow and develop.

She noted that the political impetus for the development of Russian-Uzbek bilateral relations is determined by the presidents of the two countries.

She stressed that governmental and parliamentary cooperation is developing successfully, as more than 350 treaties and agreements have been signed between Moscow and Tashkent.

“We highly appreciate the effectiveness of interaction between the parliaments of Russia and Uzbekistan at various international forums, including the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,” she concluded.
