Spain’s PM urges people to stop wearing ties to save energy

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez called on ministers, officials and businessmen to give up neckties, except in cases of emergency, to save electricity in running air conditioners.

The Spanish prime minister arrived at a press conference on Friday without a tie.

He emphasized that in this way he sets an example of how to reduce the use of air conditioners that consume electricity.

“I’m not wearing a tie,” he said. “That means we can all save energy.”

He added: “I asked all ministers, all officials and businessmen not to wear ties unnecessarily. In this way, we will all contribute to savings.”
