Czech television on Sunday quoted Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger as saying that his country could provide Ukraine with MiG-29 combat aircraft and tanks.
Speaking on Czech television, Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger praised the Czech Republic’s willingness to temporarily help his country protect its airspace, adding that Slovakia could supply Ukraine with MiG-29 fighter jets and possibly tanks.
“But I don’t want to talk about it in more detail, because Ukraine also asked us not to give details about these weapons and equipment,” the Slovak Prime Minister continued.
Immediately after February 24, the Slovak Ministry of Defense announced the termination of the subsequent use of Soviet MiG-29 fighters. This year Slovakia was supposed to receive 14 F-16s bought from the US, but the delivery was delayed by two years due to lack of production at the chip factories. Subsequently, an agreement was reached with the Czech Air Force and the Polish Air Force to provide temporary protection of the Slovak airspace.
