Six migrants rescued in western Turkey

Turkish Coast Guard crews on Thursday rescued 6 migrants in western Turkey after Greek forces forced them back into Turkish territorial waters.

The Coast Guard Command said in a statement that its crews received a report of a group of migrants on a life raft off the coast of the Chema region in Izmir, western Turkey.

She added that crews arrived at the scene and rescued 6 illegal immigrants in a life raft after being forced back into Turkish waters by Greek forces.

She indicated that the migrants, whose nationality was not indicated, were sent to the Department of Immigration in Izmir to complete legal proceedings against them.
