Singapore Health Minister Aung Ye Kong warned citizens about a new wave of coronavirus infection, an increase in the number of travelers and the approaching New Year holidays.
“With more travel, Christmas and New Year approaching, there will be more infections with people going out, but this is not something that we have not seen before,” Aung was quoted by Singapore’s The Straits Times as saying.
And he continued: “This year alone, we have seen three waves of infection, all of which were large, and the first two waves were associated with the Omicron mutator “PA2” and “PA5”, and then with “XBB”.
That’s why there will be a new wave, Aung said, adding, “But it’s not something we haven’t seen before.”
