Chicago officials say at least five people have died and 16 more have been hospitalized following a shooting incident at a military parade in Highland Park near the city.
The shooting occurred on Monday morning in the town of Highland Park in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois.
“Sixteen people have been hospitalized, five people have died,” the city administration’s website said in a statement.
It is noteworthy that the shooting occurred at the parade on the occasion of Independence Day.
According to sources, the shooter is still at large, the police are working on the spot.
An eyewitness who was on the show with his family told WGN9, “I saw him.”
He also stated, “He was thin, athletic, had a fighting stance so I couldn’t see him all the way… He was very trained and he was shooting at us.”
