The Prosecutor General of the Khimki District Court of the Moscow District demanded 9.6 years in prison for American basketball player Britney Grenier for drug smuggling, RIA Novosti reports.

Grenier wrote a handwritten letter to President Joe Biden, delivered to the White House on Independence Day, imploring him not to forget her cause after months spent in prison in Russia.

Earlier, the White House said that the United States made a “serious” offer to Russia to return Greiner and another prisoner.
