Today, Sunday, in Baghdad, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani sponsored the ceremony of signing a joint security agreement between Tehran and Baghdad.
The agreement was signed by Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Ali Shamkhani, who is on a visit to Baghdad, and Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasem Al-Araji.
Shamkhani said: “With the full implementation of the security agreement between Iran and Iraq, the overall development of relations will accelerate.”
He added: “Through the strict implementation of the provisions of this agreement, in addition to significantly reducing the terrorist threat and preventing the creation of insecurity at the borders, directions will be created for the comprehensive development of relations between the two countries in the political, economic and security dimensions. be provided more than before.
He pointed out that “Islamic Republic of Iran is the main source of insecurity in the region and Iraq, namely the American policies and measures that cause crises,” adding: “America continues to cause harm, and this cannot be allowed to continue this process that undermines security and stability in the region.
For his part, Iraqi National Security Adviser Qassem al-Araji expressed satisfaction with Admiral Shamkhani’s visit, IRNA reported.
He continued, “There is no doubt that an agreement between the two countries to address the security challenges imposed on Iran-Iraq relations serves the interests of two friendly and brotherly countries.”
He indicated that “Baghdad will do its best to fully implement this agreement and will not allow any group or country to use Iraqi lands to create a security threat in Iran.”
