series author "Harry Potter" Johnson demands resignation

British writer J.K. Rowling, Prime Minister Boris Johnson to step down amid massive resignations of a number of ministers and civil servants.

She tweeted, “(#JohnsonMustGo) Oh my god. When your shovels begin to melt from the scorching heat of the Earth’s core, you must stop digging your own grave.”

Rowling is a well-known opponent of the ruling Conservative Party and its current leader, as well as a social activist against the UK leaving the European Union, calling politicians who strongly support the Brexit idea “racists and hypocrites.”

The British prime minister’s position has weakened over the past 24 hours amid yet another political scandal as 38 members of his government, including two ministers and more than 10 deputy ministers, left their posts due to loss of confidence in Johnson, while others called for him personally to retire.

Last June, Johnson was forced to hold a vote of confidence amid a sharp drop in his popularity and ratings in the ruling Conservative Party over a scandal over celebrations held at the prime minister’s residence during the nation’s tight coronavirus lockdown, but he managed to hold his ground.
