Serie A. Napoli rise to the top with a precious 2-1 win over second-placed Atalanta.

Napoli took the lead by beating their main direct rivals Atalanta 2-1 on Saturday in the 13th stage of the Italian Football League.

The southern club retreated with a goal from Nigerian Ademola Lukman (19th minute from the penalty spot), but the victory was won by the latter’s compatriot Victor Osimhen (23rd minute) and Elif Elmas from North Macedonia (35th minute).

Napoli, the leader and the only unbeaten so far in Serie A, hit two birds with one stone, so they regained their winning tone after losing to Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday, and were eight points clear of Atalanta (35 vs. 27) in a stage that saw another top match between Juventus and Inter tomorrow, Sunday.

Napoli have been chasing their first title since 1990, when the late Argentine star Diego Armando Maradona led him to a second Italian league title.
