Serbia reports the death of all crew members of the crashed Ukrainian cargo plane in northern Greece

Emergency crews at the crash site of a Ukrainian cargo plane yesterday in northern Greece confirmed the death of all crew members of the ill-fated plane, which was carrying a shipment of ammunition from Serbia to Bangladesh.

An An-12 cargo plane from Serbia, which was flown by the crew of a Ukrainian airline, crashed on Saturday evening in a field between two Greek villages.

Authorities said the plane’s fuselage slid to the ground for a distance of 170 meters before breaking apart.

Residents in the area reported seeing the fireball and hearing explosions for two hours after the accident.

Serbian Defense Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said at a press conference on Sunday that the plane was carrying 11.5 tons of Serbian-made mortars to Bangladesh, the country that bought it.

The plane took off from the Serbian city of Nice and was scheduled to make a stop in the Jordanian capital Amman before continuing its journey.
