German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said during a visit to Potsdam on Friday that Germany will have sufficient infrastructure to supply gas in mid-2023, albeit at higher prices.
The German chancellor said: “We have announced that we will build LNG terminals along the northern coast of Germany, as well as high-velocity pipelines so that we can import gas not only from Norway, the Netherlands and Western European ports in Holland, Belgium. and France, but also through the pipeline. From the UK, we are trying to increase the facilities already built so that around the next year we will have sufficient infrastructure, albeit at possibly higher prices, to ensure the supply of gas.”
Germany is trying to reduce its dependence on Russian gas, although Russia has proven in recent years that it is a reliable supplier by importing about 155 billion cubic meters of blue fuel into Europe in 2021.
