German Chancellor Olaf Scholz dismissed German media accusations of “arrogance” amid his statements at a press conference about Ukraine’s security guarantees.
“His response to a reporter’s question about Ukraine’s security guarantees was never arrogant,” the statement said.
He added: “I am talking about a lot of information about what is happening, I am talking about what we are carefully discussing in an international context and looking for solutions, but now is not the time to talk about how to do it, because this could cause a crisis. .”
And he continued: “When you ask about it for the third time, sometimes you can answer that you answered this question.”
He indicated that he did not consider his statements to be arrogant.
In a Welt TV video broadcast, a journalist asked Schultz if he could reveal the details of the security guarantees the West promised Kyiv after the Russian special operation.
And Schultz answered with a smile and could not help laughing and calmly said: “Yes, I can,” while the German Chancellor spoke with long pauses between words, as the press conference participants laughed after his answer.
After another pause, Schulz added, “That’s it,” with a smile and waved his hands, dismissing the crowd again.
