Saudi Arabia Reveals Expo 2030 Riyadh Master Plan with New Globe Design

Saudi Arabia unveiled the master plan for Riyadh Expo 2030 during an official reception hosted by the Riyadh City Royal Commission in Paris, France.

Saudi Press Agency SPA said the plan was unveiled in the presence of representatives from 179 countries of the International Exhibitions Bureau, as it aims to create an exceptional global experience and reflects the importance of Riyadh. The exhibition will take place near the King Salman International Airport, which is currently under development, as its location will allow visitors passing through it to reach the exhibition site within minutes using the Riyadh Metro network, which covers all parts of the city. city, as well as a modern road network connected to one of the three entrances to the exhibition.

The exhibition pavilions, estimated at 226, are shaped like a globe, with the equator at the center, the visual orientation of which is consistent with the direction and vision of the exhibition, which guarantees equal opportunities for all participants. a future full of possibilities.
And SPA stated that the location of the country pavilions at the exhibition will be determined in a flexible manner according to the longitude of each country, in a location that brings countries from the north and south of the globe side by side, as this move symbolizes the inherently important role that The Kingdom plays in promoting cooperation between countries and the world, which contributes to facilitating the design of the visitor’s journey and providing an easy walk with very short distances to move between pavilions, public squares, objects dedicated to culture and innovation, as well as services for eating, relaxing and waiting smoothly. and in a flexible way.

Exhibition visitors will also be able to wander through shaded corridors with architectural heritage inspired by the history of Riyadh, as well as wander through a modern green oasis in one of the tributaries of the Wadi al-Sulei that runs through the exhibition area. embodies the commitment of the Kingdom and its capital, Riyadh, to nature conservation and sustainable development.

On the other hand, the design of “Riyadh Expo 2030” includes a prominent landmark symbolizing the “responsibility to protect the planet” as it is based on 195 columns representing the number of participating countries. For her part, a member of the Riyadh Expo 2030 master plan team, Engineer Lamia bint Abdulaziz Al Muhanna, explained in her presentation of the master plan to members of the International Exhibition Bureau that the master plan “will work on developing a version of the exhibition that will be more flexible for visitors during mobility on the site, the most interactive, collaborative and sustainable ever, and we will strive to provide an exceptional experience to exhibition visitors, and we will work to ensure full and balanced participation, as well as value-added for all participating countries and we will provide an unrivaled experience for over 40 million visitors.

And she added: “The Riyadh Expo 2030 is inspired by its location, the advantages of modern nature and tradition, as it was designed around a valley surrounded by a group of pavilions for each country, and provides all participating countries with unlimited opportunities. since the plan of the exhibition offers a wide range of pavilions of different sizes and types with the obligation to allocate a pavilion for each country, and all participants will be able to achieve their priorities and develop pavilions in accordance with the main theme of the exhibition and its sub-themes, since the opportunities for research will be endless, so that visitors can experience the experience of moving to any country in the world and enjoy diverse and continuous cultural and entertainment activities. The exhibition will feature international restaurants from around the world and live musical performances.

She also warned that “it will include rich technical opportunities for cultural and professional development and development, and we plan to launch a laboratory participating in Osaka Expo 2025, and it will continue to help countries cope with recurring challenges in the preparatory period for “Riyadh Expo 2030”, and at the end of the exhibition, we will help 100 countries selected to reuse their wings to serve schools, clinics and research centers in their countries.

Master Plan Team member Engineer Nouf bint Majid Al Munif said: “Our goal in the Kingdom is to host the first eco-friendly exhibition that achieves zero carbon emissions as the venue for Expo 2030 Riyadh. “The exhibition will run on clean energy based on solar energy. Develop high resource efficiency standards and detailed strategies to increase biodiversity, eliminate food waste, and ensure green waste management and recycling.

She also said: “We will promote and help fund and build various partnerships that will improve the development phase and goals of the exhibition, based on a collaborative approach to change that we call (triple vision) as we fund and develop them. to build international projects from 2025.”
