Satellite imagery reveals massive gas leak from gas pipeline explosion site "Nord Stream"

The UN International Monitoring Center for Methane Emissions reported that a team of researchers, including international experts, recorded a large methane leak at the site of the Nord Stream accident.

A statement released by the center and posted on its Twitter page said: “Analysis of satellite images, which was carried out by the center in collaboration with the UN Environment Program and scientists from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, identified and confirmed a large amount of methane. leak at the site of the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipeline.

According to expert estimates, the radius of the gas “bubble” in the sea from September 26 to 29 decreased from about 700 to 520 meters. At the same time, they emphasized that methane emissions far exceed the “alarming leaks” on offshore platforms in Mexico.
