The company said in a statement that “the decision of the German federal government to transfer the assets of the company’s German subsidiary to the German National Energy Network Management Agency comes as no surprise and is among the measures introduced by the United States.” at Russian enterprises in Germany.

Rosneft added that “this illegal decision, in fact, is an expropriation of shares as a result of relevant EU sanctions and actions by German and Polish regulators, the purpose of which is to seize assets” belonging to the Russian company.

Rosneft confirmed that it would go to court, the statement said, stating that “the decision taken by the German federal government is not final … Rosneft will take all possible measures to protect shareholders, including filing court”.

“This is a violation of all the basic principles of a market economy and the civilized foundations of a modern society based on the principle of the inviolability of private property,” she added.

The German government has a hand in the activities of Rosneft’s subsidiaries in Germany under the pretext of “guaranteeing” the country’s energy supply, since this Russian oil company operates a number of oil refineries in Germany.

The German Ministry of Economy said in a statement that Rosneft’s subsidiaries in Germany represent 12% of Germany’s national oil refining capacity.
