Russian MP calls for a ban on Lithuanian goods in response to the blockade of Kaliningrad

Russian parliamentarian Oleg Morozov called for sanctions against all Lithuanian goods and suspension of energy supplies from Belarus to Lithuania in response to an attempted blockade of the Kaliningrad region.

In response to a question about the blockade imposed by Lithuania on Kaliningrad, Morozov, a State Duma deputy from the United Russia party, said on Monday: “Ban sanctions on all Lithuanian goods! Temporarily suspend the transit of energy carriers from Belarus.

He indicated that it was also possible to suspend existing agreements and contracts and freeze bank assets related to these commercial transactions, and explained: “Freeze all banking assets associated with these transactions in Russian banks and their branches.”

Kaliningrad is a Russian province located in Europe, surrounded by Poland, Lithuania and the Baltic Sea. Earlier, Lithuanian Railways notified the Kaliningrad Railway of the termination of the transit of a number of Russian goods subject to EU sanctions.

The governor of the Russian province Anton Alikhanov said that the ferry complex in the Kaliningrad region will deal with new shipments due to the restriction of transit through Lithuania, noting that the transportation of oil products to the Kaliningrad region through Lithuania continues.
