Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov called the prevention of a nuclear conflict between nuclear powers an absolute priority for Russia.
This was discussed at a meeting at the PIR Center International Summer School on Global Security Issues, where Ryabkov stated that “given the risks of an escalation of the Ukrainian crisis and the general unpredictability of the international situation, the unconditional priority of Russian diplomacy is to prevent a direct conflict between nuclear powers , conducting a dialogue on de-escalation”.
“We really need work to ensure strategic stability, maintain non-proliferation regimes for weapons of mass destruction, improve the situation in the field of arms control,” Ryabkov added.
