Russian Fighter Monson Finds Joy in Relinquishing US Citizenship

Former mixed martial arts fighter Jeff Monson, who received Russian citizenship, said he feels happy after giving up his American citizenship.

And the Russian sports newspaper Sport-Express quoted Monson as saying: “Yesterday I renounced my American citizenship at the consulate in Turkey. I’m better! I’m happy. It’s all over at last.”

The American fighter received Russian citizenship in 2018 and became a deputy of the Krasnogorsk City Council of the Moscow Region.

52-year-old Jeff Monson was born in the USA and competed in this country in various martial arts and federations, including several fights within the Federation (UFC) of mixed martial arts (MMA).

It was previously reported that Monson could have his first fight since renouncing US citizenship next June.
