Russian delegate: The Hague ignores reports of Ukrainian chemical weapons provocations

Russia’s permanent representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, Alexander Shulgin, said the organization was ignoring Russia’s reports of provocations by Ukrainian forces using chemical weapons.

Shulgin pointed out that the organization, which is holding its 27th conference in The Hague, turns a blind eye to warnings and recorded facts of the Ukrainian side using chemically hazardous facilities for military purposes.

According to him, the Russian Defense Ministry warned in December 2021 about the possibility of a provocation with the use of chemical weapons, adding: “Unfortunately, some of our warnings came true.”

According to him, Russia, through its permanent mission, is constantly trying to convey to the leadership of the OPCW the data of the Ministry of Defense, but the OPCW claims that these warnings cannot be carried out.

“The only logical explanation for such a clear disregard for objective data is the conduct of a targeted information war,” Shulgin emphasized.

In July, Russia sent a note to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons about Ukraine’s readiness to carry out chemical provocations. The Russian side suspected that Ukraine was planning chemical attacks not only in the DPR, but also in Nikolaev and Kharkov.
