Russian Defense Ministry: We had an exchange of prisoners and we have more than 6,000 Ukrainian prisoners

Today, Thursday, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it had carried out an exchange of prisoners with the Ukrainian side, yesterday, Wednesday, and showed that it had more than 6,000 Ukrainian prisoners.

“Yesterday, June 29, 144 servicemen were exchanged for 144,” the ministry said in a statement, adding that the exchange process “was organized and carried out on the direct instructions of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.”

She stressed that “the most important thing is the life, health and release of our soldiers and fighters of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, who make up the majority of repatriates … The rest will come later.”

She added: “Practically all of those released have injuries, including severe ones, they are provided with all the necessary medical care.”

The department indicated that the number of Ukrainian soldiers who were captured or surrendered is more than 6,000.
