Russian ambassador in London: UK confiscation of Russian assets will undermine its credibility

Russian Ambassador to London Andrei Kelin stressed that the UK’s confiscation of frozen Russian assets would undermine London’s credibility as a major financial capital.

“London is the financial capital, and a lot of financial transactions and exchanges take place here, including money laundering by various countries,” Keelen said in an interview with Russia 24 TV channel.

And if this happens (asset confiscation), it will undermine the credibility of London as a financial capital.

British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss called for the confiscation of Russian assets frozen in the context of sanctions against Russia and their extradition to Ukraine.

The minister considered that this would require the issuance of a new law or amendments to existing legislation.
