Russia Signs Agreement to Attract Tourists from Iran

The Russian development company KAVKAZ.RF signed a memorandum of understanding with Iran on the development and promotion of tourism aimed at attracting Iranian tourists to Russia.

The document was signed as part of the activities of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, participation in which was wide, despite foreign restrictions.

Andrey Yumchanev, general manager of the Kavkaz RF development company, revealed the goals of the agreement and said in an interview with RT on the sidelines of his participation in the forum: “Iran is a strategic partner for us for a number of reasons. Regional and cultural characteristics in the Caucasus, we take special Caucasian platform for tangible interaction. One of the simplest ideas that we strive to develop is the development of inbound and outbound tourism. Just as we take care of our tourists traveling in Iran, a country with an ancient civilization and a unique culture, we are also interested in tourists from Iran.

He added: “There is a tour operator that was created specifically to allow Iranian tourists to travel to Russia, and this applies not only to the Caucasus, but also to Moscow and St. Petersburg. In general, there is interest in all regions of Russia. Russia. Friends with whom we signed a contract came here, to St. Petersburg. The official pointed out that the move deepens the ties of friendship between the two countries, and also announced the signing of an agreement with the Russian Republic of Dagestan to build a new tourist complex near the capital of the republic, Makhachkala.

The official considered the project important for the tourism industry in Russia and the Caucasus region, indicating that the construction is scheduled to be completed by 2030.

The forum was held from June 14 to 17, 2023 and discussed the main economic issues and challenges facing Russia, emerging markets and the world as a whole.

According to Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the results of the forum this year amounted to more than 900 transactions and contracts worth about 3.860 trillion rubles (about $46 billion). .
