Russia Regards May 9 as a Sacred Day, Says Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has named May 9, the anniversary of the glorious victory over Nazism, a sacred day for Russia.

Putin said: “I congratulate you on the Day of the Russian Parliament, as well as on the upcoming May holiday, on our sacred day, the day of the Great Victory.”

A military parade will take place on the occasion of the victory over fascism in the Great Patriotic War on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, as Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that fighters from the Russian military operation for Ukraine will take part in the parade.

And Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, in turn, said that more than 10 thousand people would take part in the parade, and 125 units of all types of weapons and equipment would pass through the center of the capital.

Three rehearsals of last year’s Victory Parade were held on Red Square, cars drove through the streets of Moscow on April 29 and May 4, and a dress rehearsal on May 7.
