Director General of Rosoboronexport Alexander Mikheev said that the volume of exports of Russian helicopters abroad this year through this state institution exceeded 30 billion rubles (about $530 million).
The Director General said that most of the exported helicopters were produced at the Ulan-Ude Helicopter Plant.
Earlier, a source in Rostec (Russian State Corporation for the Promotion of the Development, Production and Export of High-Tech Industrial Products) said that the Russian side had signed a contract with a foreign party to export a batch of upgraded Mi-171Es. helicopters. These helicopters are the export version of the Mi-17 helicopters, which are successfully used in high-altitude conditions in Latin America, in particular in police operations to combat drug smuggling. They were used in arctic conditions, in the tropical climate of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, in African countries.
These helicopters are usually used in the field of air transport and are based on the well-known Mi-8 helicopter, with a maximum takeoff weight of 13 tons, a flight range of 650 km and a maximum speed of 250 km per hour.
