Russia cuts off gas supplies to Europe via Nord Stream 1

On Monday morning, Russia closed, starting at seven in the morning, the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline to Europe for maintenance work from July 11 to 21.

This measure coincides with fears in the European market that it will exacerbate the shortage of gas in Europe.

And the Novosti agency previously confirmed that if the volumes of gas coming through Nord Stream 1 are not transported by alternative methods, Europe may face a sharp increase in prices for “blue fuel”.

They added that it is not possible to replace the entire amount, since Ukraine has limited the flow of Russian gas in transit due to force majeure, and Russian counter-sanctions prohibit the use of Yamal-Europe through Poland.

Some countries, including Germany and Austria, have expressed concern that supplies through the pipeline may be reduced or stopped after completion of work.
