Russia and the US both condemn nuclear warfare.

US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that Washington agrees with Moscow on the inadmissibility of nuclear war.

“We have not seen any evidence that Putin intends to use tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine or anywhere else,” Kirby said at a press conference on Monday.

He added: “I would like to remind you that Foreign Minister Lavrov recently declared that it is unacceptable to start a nuclear war and that there will be no winner in it. We agree with him on this issue.”

Kirby stressed that the United States “takes seriously” Russia’s decision to deploy its tactical weapons on the territory of Belarus, considering Russian statements regarding nuclear weapons “reckless and irresponsible.”

He pointed out that Washington has not yet tracked Russia’s transfer of “anything” or its preparation to transfer tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on March 25 that Russia would deploy tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus at its request, noting that the stockpiling of tactical nuclear weapons would be completed by July 1.
