The Russian customs announced the signing of a protocol on cooperation within the framework of a unified system of customs preferences between the Eurasian Economic Union and Egypt, which facilitates the movement of goods.
Deputy Head of the Customs Service of Russia Vladimir Evin and Head of the General Directorate of Export-Import Control of Egypt Essam El-Naggar signed a protocol on administrative cooperation, exchange of information and mutual assistance within the framework of the unified system of customs preferences of the Eurasian Economic Union.
According to the cooperation protocol, the Egyptian side will introduce a system of electronic verification of certificates of origin of goods of category “A”, and this will allow not to submit the original certificate on paper to the customs authorities of Russia – it will be enough to indicate the details in the declaration for goods.
Minister of Trade and Industry of Russia Denis Manturov held the fourteenth meeting of the joint Russian-Egyptian commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation with his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed Samir.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, finance, industry, energy, transport, digital technologies, agriculture, science, education, etc. The Russian delegation included more than 100 representatives of government agencies and Russian companies.
Manturov added: “We continue to work together to further develop trade and economic cooperation. As a result, the volume of Russian-Egyptian trade in 2022 increased by about 30% and exceeded $6 billion. Egypt remains Russia’s largest trading partner in Africa. deliveries include a variety of goods from metals to textiles and from wood to engineering products. We also export food products needed in the Egyptian market, especially wheat. A wide range of Egyptian agricultural products are exported to the Russian market, including citrus fruits, potatoes, grapes and nuts.”
