Russia Abstains from Houston Energy Conference After 20 Years

Consul General of Russia in the US city of Houston Alexander Zakharov said that the Russian consulate will not participate in the International Energy Conference in Houston for the first time in more than 20 years.

In a statement to Sputnik, Zakharov expressed regret, saying: “We will not participate this year, for the first time in over 20 years. Registration for the conference was canceled at the last moment. Moreover, they made it clear that the presence of Russian delegates at the forum is undesirable. “in it”.

The Russian consul also confirmed that for the first time, Russian representatives were not officially invited to this event, since it is one of the three largest oil powers.

He added that the question arises how forum participants can discuss and analyze global energy problems in the absence of one of the largest producers and exporters of energy resources.

CERAWeek is the largest international energy conference, held annually in Houston, bringing together thousands of participants from all over the world, including representatives of various ministries, industrial companies in the energy sector and experts.

This year’s conference will take place from 6 to 10 March on the theme “Navigating in a Troubled World: Energy, Climate and Security”.
