The Russian Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom has begun large-scale earthworks at the construction site of two new power units at the Bakes NPP in Hungary.
Alexander Merten, project manager for the construction of the station, said: “We have started earthworks. Earthworks are underway for power units No. 5 and 6 at the station. This is accompanied by additional support work. , to organize the physical protection of the two specified facilities, work is underway in the field of soil stabilization and the construction of temporary roads, and others.
The project leader said that Western partners and Hungarian contractors confirmed their readiness to continue cooperation in the construction of the station, despite the sanctions.
“As you know, the nuclear power industry and Russian companies operating in this area have not been sanctioned so far. It is important to note that GE-Alstom, the consortium of Siemens and Framatome, as well as many Hungarian contractors have confirmed their willingness to continue this project with us.”
