Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo was celebrating his historic achievement on Thursday by defeating his country 3-2 over Ghana in the first round of Group H at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Ronaldo scored the first goal for Portugal from a penalty kick, thus becoming the first player in history to score in 5 instances of the World Cup.
Ronaldo said via his Facebook account: “Registration in 5 editions of the World Cup is an achievement that I did not dare to dream of, but it proves that nothing is impossible.”
He added: “The pride I feel in representing Portugal can only be compared to the happiness I feel every time I score a goal for my country and that means victory for our fans. Let’s go, this is just the beginning.”
It is noteworthy that Ronaldo scored one goal each in Germany 2006, South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014, and scored 4 goals each in Russia 2018.
