Ronaldo accused of inappropriate behavior

Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has been charged with inappropriate behavior by the Football Association after he smashed a teenage fan’s phone on the pitch following his team’s loss to Everton this season.

“Cristiano Ronaldo has been charged with foul play during an incident that occurred in Manchester United’s Premier League match against Everton on 9 April 2022,” the FA said in a statement.

He added: “It is alleged that the attacker’s behavior after the final whistle was inappropriate or aggressive.”

The FA did not say in its statement that Ronaldo had been given any penalty.

The Portuguese star smashed a child’s phone while leaving Goodison Park after United’s loss to Everton last April.

The video shows Ronaldo expressing his anger by hitting his mobile phone to drop it from the boy’s hands as he walked through the tunnel leading to the dressing rooms.

The boy’s mother reported that he had a bruised hand and a broken phone screen.

Ronaldo, 37, later apologized to a 14-year-old fan for the social media incident, but was questioned by police about the situation last month.
