Return of Russian diplomats from Bulgaria to Moscow

The Russian Embassy in Bulgaria announced the arrival in Moscow of Russian diplomats, whom Sofia declared persona non grata.

And the Novosti agency quotes a source at the embassy: “Yes, they arrived in Moscow. Yesterday they arrived in Moscow on two planes.”

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said earlier that Moscow would raise the issue of maintaining its diplomatic presence in Bulgaria if Bulgaria’s decision to expel Russian diplomats was not changed. He pointed out that the Bulgarian side is responsible for the possible radical consequences of the expulsion of Russian diplomats.

And former Bulgarian Prime Minister Kirill Petkov announced at the end of June last year the expulsion of 70 Russian diplomats who allegedly worked for intelligence and used diplomatic work as a cover for their intelligence activities.
