Report reveals losses of Russia’s richest people in 2022

Data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index showed that the combined wealth of Russia’s richest people has decreased by $35.94 billion since the beginning of the current (2022) year.

According to the data, Alexei Mordashov, chairman of the board of directors of Severstal, was the biggest loser among Russian billionaires, as his total fortune fell by $5.94 billion to $22.9 billion.

The wealth of each person in the index is calculated based on the value of shares of companies in which billionaires own shares. The index includes 500 of the richest people in the world, 26 of which are from Russia.

The total wealth of people included in the index reached $354.64 billion as of July 1. Russian businessman Vladimir Potanin, known as the “nickel king” or “Russian tycoon”, has been voted the richest man in Russia with a net worth of $35.2 billion.
