Spanish defender Sergio Ramos of Paris Saint-Germain and his wife have come under fire after they were photographed eating a gilded steak while on holiday in the emirate of Dubai.
Ramos, 36, is currently accompanied by his wife Pilar Rubio in Dubai, UAE for a few days of vacation.
The Spanish defender took advantage of this holiday to celebrate the anniversary of his third marriage to Rubio, which took place on June 15, 2019.
And the Spanish newspaper Elmundo published a picture of Ramos with his wife, after which he was severely criticized.
Ramos ate a 24-carat gold-plated steak weighing 1100 grams, and the price of one piece was 900 euros.
This angered Spanish followers on social media.
One follower wrote: “Half the citizens of this country have to work 50 hours a week to get this money,” referring to the price of a piece of meat.
Another commented: “The Spain captain (Ramos) has no sympathy for the citizens of a country where the minimum wage is 1,000 euros.”
The third questioned the advisability of publishing such a picture and wrote: “What value can a person who publishes this have?! It’s a deviation.”
A fourth tweeted: “Cheers to mercenary Ramos eating a €900 gilded steak.”
Ramos moved to Paris Saint-Germain last July, joining from Real Madrid on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Royal.
Ramos suffered an injury during his first season with the French capital team as he played only a few matches.
Ramos played 12 matches in the French championship, in which he scored two goals and gave one assist, and also took part in one match in the French Cup.
