Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the growth of the Russian economy, according to expert estimates, is expected within 1% -2% during the current 2023.

This became part of the welcome address to the participants, organizers and guests of the 26th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which is taking place this month in St. Petersburg.

In a message posted on the Kremlin website today, the Russian president also pointed to the importance of focusing efforts on achieving technological and financial sovereignty, reducing inequality and poverty.

Putin expressed his gratitude to the Russian business sector, which has made a lot of efforts to overcome the consequences of Western sanctions imposed on Russia, and noted that the Russian business community is actively working in the current economic realities.

The President of Russia also emphasized the importance of making the most of the available opportunities and focusing on achieving technological and financial sovereignty.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will be held this year from June 14 to 17, 2023, and it is noteworthy that the UAE is participating in the economic event as a guest of honor.

This comes after Egypt took part in this capacity in the 2022 forum and Qatar in 2021. In 2022, about 5.6 trillion rubles ($105 billion) worth of deals and contracts were concluded at the forum, and 691 agreements were signed.
