Putin called on China and Mongolia to switch to national payment systems

Russian President Vladimir Putin today at a trilateral meeting called on China and Mongolia to switch to national payment systems and encourage trade cooperation.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Summit on September 15-16 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

“It will be important, if possible, to switch to national payment systems, such as the correspondent system of the Bank of Russia (Russian Central) and the Chinese cross-border payment system. This will make it possible to carry out settlements between our countries as many as possible,” Putin said.

“Additional multifaceted interaction between the business circles of Russia, China and Mongolia should also be encouraged in every possible way, including within the framework of interregional and cross-border cooperation,” he added.
