Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at the Christmas mass at the Annunciation Church of the Kremlin in Moscow.

Orthodox Christian sects living according to the Eastern calendar celebrate Christmas on the night of January 7th.

On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a ceasefire along the entire front line between the parties in Ukraine from 12:00 Moscow time on January 6 to 24:00 on January 7.

And Moscow demanded from Kyiv a ceasefire and giving citizens the opportunity to perform Christmas rites and revive Christmas Eve.

The Kremlin said in a statement: “Based on the fact that a large number of citizens who converted to Orthodoxy live in the areas of hostilities, we call on the Ukrainian side to declare a ceasefire and allow them to attend services on Christmas Day. eve, and also on Christmas Day.

For their part, the Kyiv authorities rejected the Russian initiative for a ceasefire, and the bombing continued even after the Russian truce went into effect on Friday at noon.
