Prime Minister of Saxony: Germany cannot refuse Russian gas

Saxon Prime Minister Kretschmer said that Germany cannot completely do without Russian gas, and economic cooperation between Moscow and Berlin must be resumed after the end of the conflict in Ukraine.

In an interview with the Funke newspaper group, Kretschmer added: “Now we see that we cannot refuse Russian gas. There is no doubt that our sanctions were among the reasons for the gas shortage. Ukrainian conflict, and then resume economic cooperation with Russia. The weapon must be stopped. The international community should advocate for a diplomatic solution to the conflict.”

He noted that the current political course of Germany could lead to the fact that after the end of the conflict in Ukraine, Berlin will not be able to buy Russian gas again.

“Our goal should be to buy gas from Russia again,” he said.
