Polyansky: Ukraine is not ready for serious negotiations on a settlement

Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyansky said that Ukraine is not ready for serious negotiations to resolve the conflict, and the conditions it offers are “ridiculous.”

Speaking to The Dive, Polyansky said: “As far as the peace talks are concerned, Ukraine has shown no signs of being responsible. They have some demands that should not be put on the table in serious negotiations.”

“That’s why we are not there yet. Ukraine is only making political statements that it is ready for negotiations with Russia. But they are ready to negotiate if Russia withdraws its forces, even from Donbass and Crimea, which is considered absurd,” he added.

He concluded: “That’s why we don’t have a real partner, and that’s why the special operation continues.”
