Deputy representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyansky, commenting on Ukraine’s refusal of the Christmas truce, said that the Kyiv authorities are ready to sacrifice their people and their country for the geopolitical games of the West.
“This is another reminder of who we are fighting in Ukraine, ruthless nationalist criminals ready to sacrifice their country and people for the sake of Western geopolitical games that do not respect the sacred,” Polyansky wrote on his Twitter account.
Earlier, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow proposed a Christmas truce from 12:00 on January 6 to 24:00 on January 7.
Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to cease fire along the entire line of contact on the territory of Ukraine at the appointed time, and on behalf of the President, the decree on a ceasefire was handed over to the troops.
Volodymyr Zelensky rejected Russia’s proposal for a Christmas truce, calling it a “cover” to strengthen Russian positions on the front line.
Minister of National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov also announced that Kyiv refuses to support the Christmas truce.
