Philippines intend to import fuel and fertilizers from Russia

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said his country is negotiating with Russia to purchase fuel, goods and other raw materials.

The President of the Philippines has indicated that his country can no longer fully rely on traditional suppliers and noted that his country is in talks with Russia to diversify the supply chain for food and agricultural essentials such as fertilizers.

In an interview with Bloomberg TV, he added: “We have to find new sources of fuel. But it’s not just about fuel, it’s about things like feed, fertilizer and other resources that are very important to us.”

He stressed that the Philippines is very close to signing agreements on this with Russia.

Marcos Jr. also touched upon the issue of sanctions imposed by the United States and other Western countries against Russia, noting that he is primarily guided by the national interests of his country.
